Important information for Sellers and Buyers

For Creators (Sellers): Tax Responsibilities:

As a creator, you are responsible for including all applicable taxes (GST/HST/PST/QST) in your listing prices and remitting them to the appropriate tax authorities. Artsie acts solely as a platform to facilitate transactions and does not collect or remit taxes on your behalf.

Listing Prices: Your listing prices must include all applicable taxes based on the buyer’s location. It is your responsibility to calculate and apply the correct tax rate for each sale.

Tax Registration: If your annual sales exceed $30,000, you must register for a GST/HST number and comply with all tax reporting requirements in your province or territory.

Record-Keeping: You are responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all sales and taxes collected. Artsie does not provide sales statements or tax documentation.

Commission Fees: Artsie charges a small commission on each sale to support the platform and its mission. This commission is subject to change.

For Collectors (Buyers):

Tax Inclusion: The price you see on Artsie includes all applicable taxes, as calculated by the seller. Taxes are based on your shipping address and the tax rates in your province or territory.

Transparent Pricing: Sellers are required to include taxes in their listing prices, so there are no additional tax charges at checkout.

No Hidden Fees: The price you see includes taxes and a nominal Artsie service fee, so there are no surprises at checkout.

General Information: Tax Rates: (as of March, 2025) GST (5%) applies to all provinces and territories. HST (13%-15%) applies in Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. PST (6%-7%) applies in British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. QST (9.975%) applies in Quebec, in addition to GST. Tax rates are subject to change therefore it is recommended to check current rates.
